Where to watch the 2026 World Cup in Zug: the town's two genuine sports bars — Mr. Pickwick and Passebartout — plus a couple of lakeside spots for food and a drink around the match.
Zug is compact, and its dedicated sports-bar scene is small — but if you want to watch a 2026 World Cup match with a crowd, there are a couple of reliable spots in and around the town, plus a few lakeside places worth knowing for the hours either side of kick-off.
Mr. Pickwick Pub (Alpenstrasse 11, central Zug) is the most dependable choice. The British-style pub shows live sport — including the World Cup — across multiple TVs and larger screens, with the usual line-up of beers on tap. It fills up for big fixtures, so arrive early if you want a seat near a screen.
If you don't mind a short trip out of the centre, Passebartout in Unterägeri (Zugerstrasse 40, roughly 15 minutes by bus or car) is a dedicated sports bar that broadcasts live matches — a solid second option when Mr. Pickwick is packed.
Not every good bar in Zug shows football, and that's fine — these two are worth knowing for a meal or a quieter drink before or after the game rather than for the broadcast itself.
Fischerstube in the old town (Unter Altstadt 12) sits by the lake and leans toward cocktails, aperitifs and the occasional live-music night rather than sport — a relaxed spot for a pre-match bite or a post-match nightcap.
Quai Pasa Buvette at Alpenquai is a seasonal, open-air kiosk on the waterfront (April to September, fair weather only) — a screen-free place for a drink with a view of the Zugersee between games. Note that they don't take table reservations.
